About Kedma

Over the past eight years, Kedma has reached over 10,000 students through its leadership training and social action programs. Kedma cooperates with such well known Israeli chesed organizations as Magen David Adom, Akim, Aleh, Zichron Menachem,Chazon Yeshaya soup kitchen, Ezer Mitzion, Yad Sarah, Yad L’Kashish, Meir Panim and others, in assisting and providing resources to the weaker elements of Israeli society.

Our dream of a powerful student leadership is taking form as many of Kedma alumni serve in leadership positions on campuses, youth movements and in Jewish communities all over the world.

Kedma has given me the chance to both show someone else that I care and to connect with another Jewish soul. Bringing together Jews from all over the world, Kedma has created a program that portrays true Ahavat Chinam and Achdut.

The beauty was that Kedma allowed us to try to make a difference for some of these kids.. No program can show you this "world" of need, and provide you with the structured opportunity to make a difference - even if it's just one kid, one day...

Kedma gave me an incredible opportunity and privilege to be able to be involved with chesed and social action programs throughout Israel, and really made my year of learning in Israel all that more complete. Kedma gives incredible opportunities to everyone learning in Israel to be able to give back a  little, and be exposed to amazing individuals.

At the Kedma Shabbatonim in Chatzrot Yasaf Caravan Site I learned a lot about the rich and ancient religious community of the Ethiopian Jews. Although they have been separated from the mainstream Jewish world for so long, they have maintained certain, basic customs which the modern Jew has forgotten: respect for our Elders and respect for the holy. The way they treat the elderly and their demeanor  in shul are inspiring.

Attending the Kedma Shabbatonim made my shana alef a full experience. I felt fulfilled and accomplished as by Motzaei Shabbat I had made a kesher with young Russian and Ethiopian olim whom I would have never met otherwise. I learned how to relate and speak to teenagers whom at first glance I had nothing in common with. Yet through the discussions and peulot I realized how similar we were.
